Why Volunteer?

Volunteering abroad is an opportunity to teach, learn, and grow. Its a unique way to immerse yourself into a new culture and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for it by working alongside local people. Its often the best way to go off the beaten path to see and do things that other types of vistors (i.e: tourists) would not normally do.

Volunteering abroad also has special advantages for those thinking about a career in international development. It offers you a taste of what it is like to live and work in an another country and gain insight at the grassroots level.

Above all, volunteers make a real difference. Whether they are proving valuable training to teachers, running a classroom, providing support to a health clinic, mentoring young women, providing business training for farmers, and health education to young people, their work is critical to partner communities in their efforts to find dignified and sustainable paths out poverty, environmental degradation, and improve access to health, quality education and livelihoods. Beyond Travel offers volunteer and travel programs in Haiti and Togo, West Africa.

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone can be a volunteer, as long as you've got a passion for doing good. Volunteers range from college students wishing to gain international experience to young professionals or retirees who would like to lend their skills to important community projects. Our placement process matches volunteer skills and interests with a community need, and fosters fruitful exchanges and relationships between the volunteer and the host community.

Volunteer Impact

Beyond Travel works along side BT Partners, which is a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization working to fill in skills and knowledge gaps for worthwhile community projects and organizations. This relationship enables Beyond Travel to ensure that the work of volunteers goes beyond the "feel good", and that it is targeting a community problem with a long-term solution. Beyond Travel uses an organic approach, that allows each volunteer to contribute to a broader goal and ensures that the impact of our volunteers is felt long after they have left the program. Volunteers work in these program areas: health, environmental protection, youth and education, community developemnt and livelihoods.

Volunteer safety and support is our top priority. Upon your arrival in country, our team provides you with full support and the tools you need to stay safe and to explore. With a blend of excursions and and work, our international volunteers become fully immersed in local culture. They are also free to build a schedule that allows them to explore their own interests, assured that we will be there to provide them the support they need to do it safely.

When Can You Go?

Volunteers can apply year round for our Haiti volunteer program. You can spend from one week to up to three months volunteering. The flexibility of our program allows you to go when it is convenient for you.
